[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Hypercard <-> TCP anyone?

rt2@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu (Rens Troost) (03/08/91)

I'm looking for some way of communicating from hypercard to my unix boxes.
Does anyone know if the manTCP init (driver?) has enough to write xcmds to
do this? Or perhaps these externals have already been written??

Any suggestions, please!

Hypercard xcmds have been written and (I believe) documented
in a HyperTCP toolkit stack. I assume this stack is available
on apple.apple.com. Many TCP based application stacks exist
including HyperFTP and a news reader. Check /info-mac/cards
at sumex.stanford.edu.

Yes, it is. It's in /pub/dts/mac/stacks (I think).

I don't know if it is available on apple.apple.com or not but it is available from APDA for $20. This doesn't include MacTCP itself which is another $100.

Yes, it has been done. I have seen at least two different stacks that
have TCP/IP XCMDS in them. One of them is one the latest Apple Developer
CD. It has a TCP/IP XCMD, a trivial sample stack and source code. See
if you can get it from Apple - its just a sample of how to use their
stuff so distribution shouldn't be a bit deal.
