<> My system - a Lomas S-100 based 8086 system running generic MSBASIC blows everyone away. The benchmark came in at 41 sec when the CPU was running at 8 Mhz and 35 sec when the CPU was running at 10 Mhz. Since I have a 10 Mhz 8086-1 (the fastest Intel produces commercially) and the AT's basic interpreter is inefficient, I claim victory. Of course, I am sure that if I bring my generic MS-BASIC over to the AT, it will blow me away too. Sam Chin allegra!cmcl2!acf4!tsc2597 tsc2597.acf4@nyu

I hope my Z-100 will do as well as yours at 8Mhz when I get the true 8MHz kit installed... I don't think I can do 10MHz though. You are incorrect when you say that if you brought your generic MS-BASIC over to the AT, that the AT would blow you away. It wouldn't. The IBM-AT is 6MHz with 1 memory wait state. Sort of like putting a V-8 400 in a Volkswagon beatle - overkill with all the extra capability going to waste. MHz for MHz, your 8086 will have the edge over the Z-100s 8088, except in system price of course. (-: Cheers, Gern -------
