[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Can I access HyperCard's quickdraw globals within XCMD?

I have an XCMD in Think C 4.0 which has some global variables.  I
would like to be able to access HC's QD globals, such as the pen
patterns.  Am I better off just setting up my own qd globals?
