We have a network of Apple Mac Pluses running on an SE/30 running AppleShare 2.02, being used for Health Science students. The software they are running has been developed using HyperCard 1.2.5. Our original network setup was runnig these hypercard stacks on a DIGICARD Shared Resource Controller, and would allow us to use a single copy of HyperCard from this one network volume without any problems. The problem now encountered is that since changing over to AppleShare, we can only run one copy of the application by any one user at a time. If 2 or more users try to run HyperCard, we get a message saying that the application is busy. If anyone has had any similar problems or solutions, could they please reply by NEWS or E-Mail. Also, we have tried it with HyperCard 2.0v2 with the same results. With our previous network MacServe (a disk server) we could run multiple copies of hypercard, but with Novell (a file server) we have the same situation as you do. My current understanding of the problem has to do with the home stack keeping track of all the needed program pointers. Hopefully, Claris is working on this problem and we will soon get a networkable copy of Hypercard. If anyone else has solved this problem, I too would be very much interested in hearing about it.
