I would like to run a program from hypercard. Specifically, I would like to launch telnet, open a connection, type in the name of the machine (actually, a library catalog) and leave the rest of the session with the user. Well, I've been looking and looking. It's trivially easy to launch telnet, but I'm stumped as to sending commands out of hypercard and into telnet. Any suggestions would be welcome. NCSA telnet has a save settings file that is double-clickable in the Finder. We configure machines with settings files that open sessions with any of several vaxen on a campus network. "Open settingsFile with "NCSA Telnet 2.3" " might do most of your work for you. Sending commands from Hypercard to Telnet would be nice, but that will have to wait for HyperCard 2.higher, System 7, and an IAC-ready version of Telnet. I can't wait ... Not possible *YET*, but with Inter Application Communication just around the corner, you'll be able to do it. Currently, HyperCard has no way of communicating with other applications. -- : Harry Myhre - via FidoNet node 1:102/851 (818)352-2993 : ARPA/INTERNET: Harry.Myhre@p2.f863.n102.z1.fidonet.org : UUCP: ...!{elroy,elroy!bohica}!mcws!863.2!Harry.Myhre : Compu$erve: >internet:Harry.Myhre@p2.f863.n102.z1.fidonet.org
