SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 13, 1991 -- Claris Corporation today became
the developer with the broadest family of software applications for the new
Macintosh operating system from Apple Computer, Inc.
Claris announced four new and revised products that take full advantage
of System 7. The company's entire family of Macintosh products -- the most
complete product family in the industry -- is compatible with System 7 today,
and all products are being revised to exploit System 7 powers.
The flagship of the Claris System 7 family is Claris Resolve, the
Macintosh spreadsheet for visible results and the first Macintosh application
designed from the ground up for System 7. Claris also introduced MacWrite Pro,
the Macintosh word processor for creating documents with impact. MacProject II
version 2.5 and HyperCard 2.1 are System 7 revisions of two best-selling Claris
products.

HyperCard 2.1, a new version of the leading tool for creating custom
Macintosh software, is one of the most powerful and accessible programming
systems for both novice and advanced Macintosh users.
With System 7 Apple events support, HyperCard 2.1 can create links to
other HyperCard 2.1 programs across a network and function as a control center
for the Macintosh. For example, a department calendar could be created and
managed using HyperCard. Individual schedules could be checked and calendar
entries made by sending messages across the network.
HyperCard 2.1 also allows users to develop hybrid solutions with Claris
and other Apple event-aware applications. HyperCard 2.1 users may send and
receive basic Apple events such as Open and Print and execute a script sent by
another Apple event-aware application. HyperCard 2.1 will ship in the U.S. in
late spring, 1991. Suggested retail price for the HyperCard Development Kit
in the U.S. is $199. Owners of HyperCard 1.25 or earlier versions may upgrade
to HyperCard 2.1 for $49. The update to HyperCard 2.1 is free for registered
owners of HyperCard 2.0v2.

Call (800) 544-8554 for product upgrades and sidegrades.
