Something caught my eye when I read through today's info-mac digest.
They announced the posting of a "new" collection of HyperCard externals
to /info-mac/card/xcmd. After a long download at 2400 baud, this turned
out to be the same Developer's Stack v.1.3r that had been archived in
/info-mac/card. Holy wasted bandwidth, Batman!
This prompted me to look back through my collection of must-have
HyperCard developer's utilities and ask "Where are they now?."
Here is a quick summary:
PathName/FileName SiteName / IP number
----------------- --------------------
Developer Stack v.1.3r sumex-aim.stanford.edu
/info-mac/card/xcmd/developer-stack.hqx [36.44.0.6]
Dartmouth XCMDs v.3.4.3 dartvax.dartmouth.edu
/pub/mac/DXCMDs3.4.3.sit.hqx [129.170.16.4]
Support Tools eXternals v.1.2.5 isca.uiowa.edu
/mac/infomac/cardxcmd/support-externals-125.sea [28.255.19.233]
[large collection of stacks and externals] wuarchive.wustl.edu
/pub/mirrors/macintosh/hc [128.252.135.4]
Be sure to poke around, particularly on isca.uiowa.edu and
wuarchive.wustl.edu. These sites archive many useful stacks that
never make it to the better-known ftp archives.
Other sites with HC stuff, for completeness: mac.archive.umich.edu
[141.211.165.34]
rascal.ics.utexas.edu
[128.83.138.20]
Please see your sysadmin or the "Frequently Asked Questions" posting
in comp.sys.mac.announce if you have questions about anonymous ftp.
