I am looking for information on "Reports!", a HyperCard report-printing utility by TenPointO. TenPointO's phone number (415-329-7630) is no longer in use. Is the product still current? Is there a version for HyperCard 2.x? Please respond via email, I'll summarize. - David

Is >there a version for HyperCard 2.x? >Please respond via email, I'll summarize. > - David Hi- I know that he ask for E-Mail response, but I thought I would just clear the air once and for all on Reports, Nine to Five Software, TenPointO, Activision, and Mediagenic. OK, here goes... Nine to Five Software originally created Reports for HyperCard as an "in-house" tool for using HyperCard as a database. Since we were not interested in marketing commercial products at the time, we sold it to Activision to market and distribute. Activision is owned by a company called Mediagenic who also owns TenPointO. When Danny Goodman created Focal Point for TenPointO, they decided to use Reports in order to get nicer output from Focal Point. TenPointO never really "owned" Reports. Mediagenic has recently fallen upon hard times (very hard times) and has killed TenPointO completely. It also decided to drop ALL HyperCard based products including Reports. At that point, we decided to buy Reports back from them and continue to develop and market it ourselves. Last August, Nine to Five Software began shipping Reports 2.0, and will be shipping Reports 2.1 this August. Reports 2.0 is a COMPLETE re-write to the original. It has a much improved interface, loads of new features and includes a new product called "MasterView". MasterView allows you to easily create row and column displays of information from your stacks. In MasterView, you can edit your stacks and select and sort specific cards, etc.. (Reports 2.1 also has a load of new features, and I will post a complete list here in a few days.) Reports 2.0 is fully compatible with HyperCard 1.2.X and better, including HyperCard 2.1. There are just a couple of minor bugs with System 7.0, but nothing too tragic. (Reports 2.1 will fix the stuff with System 7.0.) In the June MacUser, Reports 2.0 got 4.5 mice. :-) Anyway, Reports 2.0 exists and is available directly from Nine to Five.
