Someone told me that Zenith and Kaypro have announced IBM AT-compatible machines based on the 80286. Does anybody know anything about this? -- John Miller (ecsvax!phco) Dept. of Pharmacology, Univ. of N.C.-Chapel Hill Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (919) 966-1153

I've seen the rumor about Kaypro, but have heard from the regional sales rep and seen the description of Zenith's z-200 series machines. They are ibm-at clones, reportedly faster and without the hard disk problems. They sound great! Zenith is also releasing a $999 machine with 2 disk drives and ibm compatibility--non-expandable, a lap-top and some other 'transportable' machines at very good prices. They are to be released in August (Zenith has been fairly accurate about release dates) so--- Mimi

It weighs 14 lbs., has a blue electroluminescent screen (they made a big deal out of being able to use it in the sun, OR in the dark), and comes with a shoulder strap for carrying. I think it may have jacks for external monitors also. Dave Marquardt St. Olaf College Northfield, MN 55057 {decvax,ihnp4}!stolaf!marquard
