[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] HyperCard 2.1/2.0

bjustin@network.ucsd.edu (BIll Justin) (06/07/91)

Hi!

I recently upgraded to HyperCard 2.1, using the application and Home
stack that came with System 7.0. The Home Stack, however, is a
much slimmed-down version compared to the "developers" Home Stack
that shipped with the full version of HyperCard 2.0v2.

What would happen if I used the 2.0v2 Home Stack in place of the
"abbreviated" Home Stack that came with 2.1? I'm not using this on
an LC or IIsi, so I don't care about losing the "audio" stacks
referenced by the Home Stack.

On the other hand, perhaps there is some important code I'd be
losing by using the 2.0v2 Home Stack. *I* sure don't know!

Please send answers/advice to my e-mail address:

I had a look at the cut-down 2.1 Home stack, and the only change I noticed
was to one internal function in the stack script--namely "checkHCFont",
which checks if all the required sizes are present for a particular font.
I forget the exact details of the change, but I commented out the font
checking a long time ago, back when it was annoying me with ATM.

In other words, I'm still using my 2.0 Home stack with HyperCard 2.1.

Of course, the full 2.1 update might include further changes to the home
menu, the audio palette stacks and so on.
