[comp.sys.mac.hypercard] Question about Audio stacks

Why do I have to open the "Audio Help" stack first to get the audio items to
appear in the Edit menu? I'm using Hypercard 2.1 under System 7.

Are you using the 2.1 Home stack? It has handlers to activate those items in
the Edit menu. You also have to have the audio stacks in a place findable by
HyperCard when it starts up. I don't know exactly what that permits, but it
works fine if the stacks are in the same folder as the Home stack, or in the
same folder as the HyperCard application, or are in a path that is supplied on
the Stacks Search Paths card.

There are probably XCMDS and XFCNS in the stack which enable your microphone.
Without the externals, HyperCard can't "hear" your microphone.
