bzs@BU-CS.BU.EDU (Barry Shein) (10/25/87)
I've gotten dozens of requests from people to delete direct mailing because they do in fact get INFO-FUTURES through normal USENET routes as comp.society.futures. This is a good thing. Note that it usually takes me a few days (the weekend, like today) to get to these matters, especially when they pour in like this. I notice some people seem to be sending me two requests to unsubscribe per day as if they're getting frustrated. A little patience and understanding please (see what you did! I could have been deleting you instead of typing in this message :-) I know, there's no way to know if I received your message (I do reply as I delete tho so you'll get a "receipt"), but give it a few days. No big deal, just seems like a waste. Thank you. -Barry Shein, Boston University

[NOTE: THIS WILL PROBABLY GET FORWARDED TO THE USENET LIST
COMP.SOCIETY.FUTURES WHERE IT CAN BE SAFELY IGNORED, THIS IS ALL FOR
THE MAILING LIST HALF OF THE COMMUNITY]
Well, things look pretty good, if you know of any problems please send
them to me (bzs@encore.com).
The INFO-FUTURES mailing list has now been moved from BU-CS.BU.EDU to
ENCORE.COM (along with me.) Those that aren't quite up on name servers
may have to use MULTIMAX.ARPA, here's the whole story:
(btw, ENCORE.COM is an Encore Multimax with 8 CPUs/56MB running a
parallelized MACH, in case you're curious.)
ARPA:
INFO-FUTURES@ENCORE.COM (preferred address)
INFO-FUTURES@MULTIMAX.ARPA (same machine, in case you get
a host unknown for ENCORE.COM)
UUCP:
{bu-cs,decvax,necntc,talcott}!encore!info-futures
BITNET:
Use the ARPA address through your recommended BIT/ARPA
gateway (eg. info-futures%encore.com@cunyvm.cuny.edu).
CSNET:
ARPA address should work, or via
INFO-FUTURES%ENCORE.COM@RELAY.CS.NET
REMEMBER that requests to be dropped/added/changed go to
INFO-FUTURES-REQUEST (same addressing), not the whole list.
There remains an alias at BU-CS.BU.EDU which will forward here
but obviously you should stop using it immediately.
I'll be putting up the archives for anonymous FTP soon, they may still
be available on BU-IT.BU.EDU.
I'll get the list of lists updated and make sure USENET forwarding
gets changed properly.
To get to me directly:
BZS@ENCORE.COM (same basic addressing as above)
...encore!bzs (etc etc etc)
WELCOME YET AGAIN TO INFO-FUTURES!!
