Just in case it wasn't abundantly clear in my previous posting, the range-of- benchmark-sizes should be run on all kinds of your typical test programs. Obviously, the Seive only tests array-reference speed. Other tests must be conducted in a way similar to the Sieve.. Maybe the sum-of-1/n test for values of N ranging from 100 to 100000 in appropriate increments, plus other tests similarly arranged. ..... On another topic: If the 8086 was introduced in 1979 (or before), why isn't there yet a compiler that can handle arrays of >64K in a nice way ? Makes you think, doesn't it ???
