[comp.society.futures] More suggestions for news readers

michael@stb.UUCP (Michael) (02/13/89)

Here's a few things I'd like to see in news readers:

#1. Reverse reading. Change the semantics of "p" and "n" in rn.
(i.e., space = p or ^P, hitting p junks the current article, hitting
n does not)

#2. In real high volume groups, I've taken to giving the command
/re:/j
which kills all followups (50-90% (NOT kidding)); I then read the articles
and if I see something interesting, I enable that subject again (via /m).
But, what that I want to read has an article come in the
next day? I didn't see it when I did the subject search, so it was lost.
What I'd like to see is an automated "Kill everything beginning with a
re: UNLESS it fits on of these subjects which I want to read".
