Electronic newspapers are more-or-less here now, whether Prestel, Minitel, Teletext as we have in Europe (running on a combination of television systems and SLOW modems (1200/75 is still almost standard, and a lot of people think that's good... in my last post I was expected to WORD PROCESS down a 300/300 modem) or the various almost-science fictional systems you lucky statesiders have. I think that electronic news 'papers' won't actually take off until they are able to carry advertising (which they won't until after they take off). As far as I know, there is no analogous system running at the minute, but if anyone out there knows of a (BITNET/EARN accessible) newsgroup that carries job advertisements I've got a more than academic degree of interest in finding out. (and if there isn't, but if anyone out there wants to employ a chemist/ crystallographer/molecular modeller/computer person, I'll mail you my CV on request ;-) )
