I'm involved in a futures research project and need access to lots of "trend" information (i.e., shifts in patterns, attitudes, behavior) with respect to technological, cultural, social, economic, political, ecological, etc., factors in the United States and the world at large. I've found several sources, e.g.: (1) periodicals such as The Futurist, (2) the Congressional Research Service's issue briefs, and (3) texts such as Naisbitt's Megatrends and Drucker's recent The New Realities. Is there a more systematic approach -- perhaps a compilation of sources of trend-related information? If not, what are your individual recommendations as to the most productive sources of such information. I appreciate your help.

Maybe someone else can be more specific for you, but there are public opinion pools such as Roper (and maybe Gallup) which track attitudes toward some of the things you mentioned over time. Sorry I can't be more specific. Bruce Klopfenstein

Gary, would you consider summarizing your responses and posting them to the mailing list --- or just sending me copies of anything interesting that you get on these topics? I think a number of people would be interested... Elise
