The world in which Bladerunner takes place certainly feels a lot
like the cyberpunk stories such as "Neuromancer", but the machine
part, while present, isn't a major plot element. Does this count?
While we're at it, I think "True Names" is closer to the hacker's
ideal world than "Neuromancer"... is V. Vinge working on an
implementation down there in San Diego?

Is it true that Lucasfilms is now working on a network version of True Names for commodore computer users? And noone has mentioned Software by Rudy Rucker, which claims to be the "father" of Cyberpunk....
