Whilst sitting at home recovering from yet another illness, I ran across a TV show called "Captain Power". It is an interesting mixture of live action, and cel and computer animation. Predictably, it's aimed at the 10-year-old inside each of us, and it aims low. The dialogue is poor, the plot infantile, but the visuals are quite good if somewhat low-budget, and are reminiscent of Blade Runner, or Terminator. The computer graphics creatures look a lot like the mechanical men in the Dire Straits video "Money for Nothing". Apparently the battle is over the remaining electrical power in some sort of post-atomic-war world. They have cybernetic world mind-links, electronic armor, anarchy, etc - all the usual ingredients. I was particularly amused by one of the good-guy warrior characters - a big muscle-y type who just happens to speak in a thick German accent. No, it's not Arnold. Watch Captain Power once. I think it definitely fits the definition of "high-tech low-life". Once is probably enough, however. Brian Kantor UC San Diego "Most cold medicines work the same. It's the side effects that make them different from one another. So when choosing a cold medicine, ask your doctor or pharmicist which one he enjoys taking the most. Trust him. He's tried more medications then you'll experience in a lifetime..."
