Cyberpunk music has been declared "vulgar" by the Visalia Unified School District, after the district received complaints from parents about the use of "Sharkey's Day" and "Sharkey's Night" by the a high school color guard. Golden West High School's color guard, named "Future Shock", has been banned from further performances within school district boundaries. The group will be allowed to participate in color guard competitions within California. The PTA called the dancing "vulgar and suggestive" in a public statement. The Visalia Times-Delta (a Gannett-USA Today paper) reports that the color guard is considered inapropriate for high school. The girls wear black loetards, pink tights, and black sweatshirts. They do not wear dance shoes, and are classified as a modern dance troupe at competitions. Parents have asserted that the uniforms have satantic overtones. Still, it the music which has received the most complaints. The Times-Delta declared that the music was "tribal beats leading to snake-like movements" which are "provocative" in nature. The school districted has also rejected the music of Tangerine Dream and Phillip Glass. ---------------- Just thought someone might find it interesting.....Visalia, CA, is the Bible Belt revisited.
