What exactly are the implications of having 64K segments in the 8086 and 80286 processors? For that matter, what exactly are these segments and why are they used ? How does their presence affect a typical programmer, using a high-level language (c) under MS-DOS or XENIX ? How would their presence affect programs with large data arrays (say 256K bytes), used for image processing ? Thanks to all how can enlighten me on these basis points.
