Hi there netters, I have a friend who has got a job offer in the area of neural nets with a small company that basically deals with the application of neural nets and neural net concepts to the analysis of cloud data and atmospheric temperature data. He also has offers from a bunch of other companies that deal with "orthodox" methods of analysing similar types of data which is where his background lies. He has no prior experience in the area of neural nets. His question is how easy would it be to transfer into the area of neural nets and what is the potential for the area (i.e., It is fairly well known that the neural-net area is a rather slowly moving area). What kind of demand exists out there in industry for neural-net application oriented people in case he is forced to leave this company if and when it folds ...after all it is a small company so this eventuality has to be considered too (this friend of mine has no prior AI experience, but he has a lot of programming experience in Fortran and Pascal). I realise that the above is a rather vaguely worded question but any and all responses would be welcomed....
