I would like to ask about obtaining public-domain Neural Net software -- I found some by anonymous ftp to cs.rochester.edu in the directory /pub/simulate. Have other people left public-domain software available by anonymous ftp? My comments on the Rochester package: It is a generalized NN package with the capability to construct, connect, and display information about NN units. Beyond that, the only "common" NN architecture it has are some Backprop routines. I am disappointed that it does not contain instructions on how to set up ART, Kohonen feature maps, or other architectures. What I might be most interested in is some modification of Backprop with (1) arbitrary configuring of hidden layers [not just input->hidden->output] and (2) some higher-order learning algorithm [straight gradient descent just is not fast enough]. I am willing to settle for one with only (2) if (1) is not available. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Loren Petrich, the Master Blaster: loren@sunlight.llnl.gov Since this nodename is not widely known, you may have to try: loren%sunlight.llnl.gov@star.stanford.edu
