In the November 1989 issue of _IEEE_Communication_Magazine_, the
Holmdel Neural Network Group of AT&T Bell Lab presented an article
about applying neural-net chips and automatic learning to handwritten
Digit Recognition. Their experiment database was obtained from U.S.
Postal Service and its contractors.
I think it is a good idea to compare the preformance of different
neural-net models with some large scale, and THIRD PARTY real-world
problems. So is there any body in the net who has contact with these
people? Is it possible for them to make this zip code database
available to other netters?
