NEW YORK -DJ- Hitachi Ltd. introduced a general purpose neural
computer
with learning circuits that can carry out up to 2.3 billion operations
a second.
In a press release, the company said it believes the computer has the
highest learning performance ever achieved by a computer to this kind.
Company officials said the computer has the ability to learn like the
human brain, storing huge quantities of information and coming up with
an optimized solution almost instantaneously.
In addition, Hitachi said it developed stock price prediction and
signature
verification applications which can be run at high speeds on
workstations
linked with the neural system.
