[comp.ai.neural-nets] Brainmaker and other AI programs

yitlin@uhccux.uhcc.Hawaii.Edu (Yi Ting Lin) (01/08/91)

I am looking for an artificial intelligence program to try to
predict football games and the stock market. The Brainmaker
advertisements look interesting. The good people in comp.ai
suggested that I post in this newsgroup (thank you to those
who responded from that newsgroup). It seems there was a
previous discussion on Brainmaker? What do you think of
Brainmaker? Also, could you recommend some other software
that might be of interest? These are the criteria:

1. Good documentation
2. User friendly

Thanks!

It depends on the budget you have too. Software can be free (PDs) to
a few $1Ks in price.
For the commercial ones, the BrainMaker Professional and the ExploreNet 3000
by HNC are very good. However, BrainMaker Professional is only good if
you are/will be working with backpropagation only. ExploreNet 3000 has more
than 10 different paradigms ( eg, LVQ, ART1/2, BAM etc ) but is very much
slower than BrainMaker Professional because it runs under Windows 3.0.
Apart from these, there are many others but they are either more expensive
or they did not impress me. ExploreNet3000 is US$1495 and the BrainMaker
Professional is US$795.
There are also numerous PDs software around such as Genesis, PlaNet ( SunNet ),
Rochester Connectionist Simulator, SFINX, NeurDS, etc. Most of them are available
via FTP. I'll post their locations if there is enough interest.

I (and many others) willbe interested in PD neural software. Would
aapreciate if you post their ftp addresses.
