[comp.ai.neural-nets] how much theory of comp req'd?

ssingh@watserv1.waterloo.edu (The Sanj-Machine aka Ice) (01/13/91)

I was wondering if someone who has experience doing research with
neural nets could help me with this question.

I am taking a theory of computation course in the hope that I can apply
the methodologies to enhance my understanding of neural network and PDP
styles of computation.

Now coming from a softer background, philosophy and psychology to be specific,
I find this work a little trying at times. I went into this with the
intention of putting some quantitative teeth in my studies of computational
models of the mind.

So, gentlemen, the question I ask is, what can I hope to be able to do with
neural networks if I complete the course?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Sincerely,

Sanjay Singh aka "Ice"
