NEURAL NETWORK TUTORIAL AND WORKSHOP

FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

For a Tutorial and Workshop on NEURAL NETWORKS

to be held at

UNIVERSITY OF NATAL
DURBAN
South Africa

26th July 1991

Under the Auspices of
The South African Council for Automation and Computation (SACAC).


WORKSHOP

The workshop will run from 14:00 to 17:00 and will provide a forum for
the presentation and discussion of all aspects of Neural Networks.  Papers are
sought from Industry, Research Organisations, Universities and Technikons. 
Authors are invited to submit short papers concerned with theory and/or
practice.  Papers on industrial applications are particularly sought after. 

The Areas of Interest for the Workshop will cover all aspects of Neural Networks
including:

    * Neural network theory
    * Pattern recognition
    * Architecture
    * Learning algorithms
    * Cognitive science
    * Modelling
    * Industrial applications


Papers should be no more than 10 one-and-a-half spaced A4 pages long and
should have an abstract of 100-200 words. All papers will be judged with
respect to their quality and relevance, and will be printed in the workshop
proceedings. 


TUTORIAL

The morning tutorial will run from 09h00 to 12h30 and will comprise 3 one-hour
lectures covering basic neural network theory, pattern recognition and a
discussion of applications in Industry.

Notification of Acceptance:                          31 May   1991
Camera-ready copies due:                             14 June  1991
Early bird registration:                             21 June  1991
