[net.news.group] fortran users group

trh@ukc.UUCP (11/17/83)

>From recent comments on various news groups it appears (like it or not)
that there are an increasing number of UNIX sites interested in
running Fortran software.

Could I suggest a news group specifically for SERIOUS Fortran users?

This group would encompass not only the reporting of bugs (& fixes)
for the present f77 compiler ( and its possible successors ?) but
also the availability of software tools for Fortran 77 and news of
UNIX f77 implementations of publically available Fortran software.

Good idea! I should have thought of it! I strongly favor a FORTRAN
group. It's time for the COBOL people to wake up and smell the coffee! :-)
Seriously, UNIX *is* becoming more popular for scientific applications,
and that often means FORTRAN. I'm *sure* there is enough interest at this site!
