Reply-Path: : (The other was a hope for performance throughput - does anyone know if 2.0 will run faster (or slower) on a 750? Is there any hope of getting the TU80 to stream, or at least move a bit faster?) : We're running Ultrix 2.0, and have been for about a month. (We started with Ultrix 1.0 back when it was mostly vanilla 4.2BSD). The TU80 runs a _lot_ faster. Epochal backups that were taking six and a half to seven hours now take two or two and a half hours. No kidding. The first time I saw it run I thought it was doing a forward-space. I restored some files off the tape just to make sure it was really writing to it. As for performance, if you're running NFS at least (as we are) expect slower performance. Noticably slower. Of course, we're running in only 5MB real, which is the minimum you can run 2.0 in according to the release notes. We're going to have to look at a memory upgrade. Sorry, no benchmarks for comparison. -- John John Sloan CSNET: jsloan@CS.Wright.EDU UUCP: ...!cbosgd!wright!jsloan Computer Science Dept., Wright State University, Dayton OH, 45435, USA +1 513 873 2491 belong(opinions, jsloan). belong(opinions,_):-!,fail.
