Reply-Path: Most of the users on our ethernet (composed of Ultrix 2.0 machines running sendmail 5.51 and MH 6.5) have experienced a problem that is both annoying and difficult to reproduce. It seems (because I myself have *never* had this problem) that some days, as many as 90% of the mail in these users' spool files lacks an RFC822 "From: " line. The problem occurs independent of sender, recipient (unless the recipient is me, who never has the problem), or host (although my host may somehow work better). The problem follows no perceptible pattern; it appears to occur completely at random, although some weeks I get more complaints about this than other weeks. It is an annoying problem because MH will not create a "To: " line when the user runs "repl", although there is a "Return-Path: " field which "inc" generated from the "ugly" UNIX "From_" line. The problem started when we switched to Ultrix 2.0, although we are using the same version of sendmail (relinked for 2.0) and the same .cf files we did before. Has anyone seen this before, or know of ways to localize or fix it? -David Watson Cognition, Inc. (617) 667-4800 Billerica, MA
