[comp.unix.ultrix] Versatec Problems in ULTRIX 1.2

jdp@adiron.UUCP (Powell) (04/06/88)

We have installed a Versatec V80 on our VAX 11/785 under ULTRIX
version 1.2. The system has 4 UNIBUSes, 1 MASSBUS, with the
following devices connected:

uda0 on uba0, controlling 4 RA60's
lp0 on uba0 - LXY (DEC)
fps0 on uba0 - FPS5205
uda1 on uba1, controlling 1 RA60.
ip0 on uba1 - GOULD IP8500 High res display
ip1 on uba2 - GOULD IP8500 High res display
dz0 on uba3 - (DEC) DZ-11 interface
dz1 on uba3 - (DEC) DZ-11 interface
de0 on uba3 - DEUNA Ethernet Controller
vp0 on uba3 - VERSATEC plotter (V80) doesn't work
mt0 on mba0, controlling 2 tape drives

This configuration is a stripped down version of a system we built at
2 other sites (they have 3 udas and 12 RA60s). The other sites
are running 4.2 BSD. This site runs ULTRIX 1.2.
Under the VMS operating system, the VERSATEC is able to communicate
properly.

What we have done so far to track down this difficulty is to trace
the probe routine in the driver and we have seen the octal
number 1000 printed as the interrupt vector. The expected value
of the vector is octal 200 (or 174). Is there anything in hardware
or software that we should be doing but aren't? Please send
mail unless a number of other requests are made. I don't want to tie
up these newsgroups.

Thank you for any help.
