[comp.unix.ultrix] Yet more 1.2 -> 2.2 conversion fun

grr@cbmvax.UUCP (George Robbins) (04/06/88)

Oh well, recovering from the big conversion effort and
trying to tye up the myriad loose ends...

1) The auto-logout timeout feature in /usr/new/csh has suddenly started
   working. I had a very irate user today who wanted to know why the
   system blew them off when they had left their terminal while typing
   in a long mail message.

   This seems to happen with either the 1.2 or 2.2 new/csh execuatbles,
   so it's a bit of a mystery. The solution is to have all new/csh
   users edit their .login files to add "unset autologout".

2) I missed the /usr/lib/Mail.rc file when I was bringing over the key
   files from 1.2. I'm not going to reload the 1.2 distribution to
   verify this, but I think the 2.2 version has a bunch of non-default
   options specified that differ from the 1.2 file. This changes the
   default behaviour of mail enough to cause user distress...
