I am going to be installing a device and driver on a microvax system running Ultrix 1.2. This system has been inherited by some friends of mine, and they don't know much about it (I don't think they have any manuals). I have written many UNIX device drivers, but these were all on small PDP 11's under version 6 or VENIX. Does the stock Ultrix distribution come with everything you need to reconfigure? (conf.c, low.s what else?) Is there any standardization in the calling syntax of the kernel subroutines? (cpass, physio, timeout, etc. ) I figure if the sources for another DMA device (like the disk drive) are on the system, then I can figure it out. Is there a DEC manual that gives enough detail that it would be worth our while to get it? Any other pearls or caveats? thanks in advance, jeff -- Jeff Mulligan (jbm@ames-aurora.arpa) NASA/Ames Research Ctr., Mail Stop 239-3, Moffet Field CA, 94035 (415) 694-5150
