Thought to pass this on in case anybody else has seen of does see this in the future. MicroVAX II/Ultrix 2.2 (with patches), EMACS version 18.50. After the system crashed last night, EMACS exhibited this strange behavior. It would start up, but attempts to use commands (in particular find-file, C-X C-F) would just hang there. It would accept the filename, and the cursor would reposition to the beginning of the echo line, and just sit there. Only way out was to C-G C-G, and then kill the job. I thought maybe there was something wrong with the system, memory, files, etc. so I rebooted, ran fsck, and even ran the memory exerciser enough to hopefully clear out all of memory with no improvement. Restored an executable version from tape with the same results. Recompiled from scratch, and everything APPEARS to be working again. -- Karl --
