Can somebody give me a pointer to where I'm going wrong please! Having just installed Ultrix2.2 and LAT support we decided to move our printers onto a decserver200. All went well except that the dvi to apple laserwriter driver died. The driver is part of the TeX distribution of some 2 years ago and the problem appears to be in routine getlog of the lpr filter applef.c . Connected directly to a hardwired machine port it works perfectly (with appropriate redefinition of lp in printcap). It would appear that despite declaring the port to be "rw" in printcap the system considers the decserver port to be write only, an errno [EBADF] is returned and the read of the printer status fails, locking up the queue. Is there some arcane decserver incantation I should be using? The decserver is set up xon flow control, remote access, output speed = input speeed, no autobaud, no autoconnect, no parity 8 bit data. I've done the necessary lcp commands to link the port with the decserver and the port definition is crwxrw-rw-, /etc/ttys and the decserver are setup as nomodem control. Contact with DEC in Australia indicates "its a known problem which will be fixed in the next release." Since the old release 2.2 only just reached me this month (despite issue in the US in Nov.) this does not bode well! Has anybody overcome the problem?
