[comp.unix.ultrix] strange error messages in /usr/adm/syserr

i am being plagued by soft errors on my new disk. my configuration is:

uVAXII, 16Meg
emulex DM02, and 2 hatachi drives, a 170 meg (the old drive), and a DK514
380Meg (the new drive), running Ultrix 2.0.

ever since i had the DK514 installed, i am getting *lots* of errors in
syserrlog. about 1meg worth a day. all soft errors (OS EVENT TYPE
102). as a result fo this, performance is bad. i tried opening the
system up, and checking all of the connections, and they all seem ok.
the cables run over top of the CPU card (we have a rack mount BA123
clone), and i tried moving them all to one side, to get them away from
the CPU chips. this really didnt seem to help. can any of you help?
i would greatly apprecite the help.

please reply directly to me, since i dont have time to read news anymore.

thanx
