I have a VAXstation II running Ultrix 2.0. It has an old-style mouse,
and I would like to use a new-style mouse. The old style mouse is
model VS10X-EA, and a new mouse is model VSXXX-AA. I know that
a new mouse transfers the position data serially at 4800 baud, and
the old mouse sends quadrature information directly.
The two mice plug into different places on the VAXstation II. The new-style
mouse uses the video and keyboard cable, while the old-style mouse uses
a separate cable to the system unit. I'd like to know if there are
any hardware switches or kernel parameters I have to tweek to get the
system to work with a new-style mouse. I've tried unplugging the old mouse
and plugging in the new mouse, but that doesn't work.
