Reply-to: pkatz@axion.bt.co.uk (Philip Katz) How can I change the default editor that xmh uses when I compose, reply or forward ? I've tried changing the "Editor:" value in my .mh_profile, but xmh seems to ignore this. I'd like to use an editor that (a) I'm familiar with and (b) will allow me to include other files, pack paragraphs etc. [Will the default editor do this ??]. Also : how/when does xmh get rid of deleted files (which it seems to keep in my folders as "#nn" files ? Is it system dependent or do I need to do it myself explicitly ?? This is my first time posting, so please excuse any obvious bloopers !! Reply-to: avolio@decuac.dec.com (Frederick M. Avolio) Well, you can't... You cannot change the default editor because no editor is used. Rather a editable text window is brought up. It has built in emacs-like edit functions, but no editor is called. Bums you out? Me too..... (Same goes for dxmail in UWS 2.0 -- similar to xmh but XUI based (DECwindows toolkit).) Fred

Reply-to: avolio@decuac.dec.com (Frederick M. Avolio) Oops... second question... How to get rid of the # files? I put an entry in crontab to daily wipe out # files over 5 days old. Fred

Reply-to: marc@okeeffe.Berkeley.EDU (Marc Teitelbaum) Bums me out too - alot, to the point that i've long gone back to using plain old MH, which is just fine. Would everybody it bums out please raise their hand. Maybe someone will be convinced a vi interface for the toolkit was, and still is, a good idea. No ones going to listen to me, so if you think its a good idea - speak up! Marc
