Reply-to: rogers@dadla.LA.TEK.COM [Do not meddle in the affairs of Unix, for it is subtle and quick to core dump] I've been trying to port the 'timed' program from 4.3 BSD to Ultrix 2.0 without success. It compiles just fine (with some minor mods), but then does not talk to the timed master I have on a 4.3 system. Has anyone got timed to port? If so, can you please share the secrets of the universe with me? Or, barring that, does anyone know what differences there are between Ultrix UDP protocol and 4.3 UDP protocol (which is what timed uses)? Like differences in ioctl()'s or ??? Timed, for those of you who don't know, keeps the clock within 20mS for systems using it. It does this by using the adjtime(2) call, and icmp timestamps. The goal is so that systems using NFS don't have date problems (say running make). -Roger (rogers@dadla.LA.TEK.COM) UUCP: ...!uunet!tektronix!dadla!rogers ARPA: @RELAY.CS.NET:rogers@dadla.LA.TEK.COM And remember: "Space, is big.
