Hi,
This is an Official Proposal to change comp.unix.ultrix from
moderated to unmoderated. In addition to all the standard
reasons why unmoderated groups are considered "better" by some
people, please consider the following:
1) In the two years that I have moderated comp.unix.ultrix,
I have only exercised my Powers about three times to reject
messages which did not belong on the newsgroup.
2) I have never had to quash ridiculous arguments.
Basically all I have done it act as an archivist. I strongly
feel that the subscribers to the group have demonstrated
"responsibility" and whatever other traits are necessary to
maintain an unmoderated newsgroup.
If you have any objections or discussion, please post it to
news.groups (NOT to comp.unix.ultrix :-) or email directly to me.
Barring any significant objections, we will change the status at
the beginning of March.
