Thanks to the kind people (especially the DECies) who responded to my
previous query.
The gist of most of the responses was "make sure that the paging partition
does not overlap the /usr partition".
I've just checked the results of chpt -q and it appears that the two partitions
do _not_ overlap.
Further suggestions will be gratefully accepted.
