Can anybody give me some information about zoo? I have been looking through various manuals, but haven't been able to find it anywhere.

Zoo is a public domain archiving utility, typically used on PCs and various micros, however it does compile under ULTRIX (I've got it running on my DECstation 3100). The description from the man page follows: Zoo is used to create and maintain collections of files in compressed form. It uses a Lempel-Ziv compression algorithm that gives space savings in the range of 20% to 80% depend- ing on the type of file data. Zoo can store and selectively extract multiple generations of the same file. Data can be recovered from damaged archives by skipping the damaged por- tion and locating undamaged data with the help of fiz(1). Zoo is available from a number of archive servers on the net. ---------------------------------- David Barrett UUCP: ...!decwrl!riscy.dec.com!dbb Digital Equipment Corporation New York ULTRIX Resource Center INET: dbb%riscy.dec@decwrl.dec.com
