We have a small VAX setup here (3500, 3600, VAXstation 2000), running VMS on an ethernet VAXcluster on all three CPU's. It's possible that the department which runs the VAXen would let me bring up Ultrix on the VAXstation, since it's not used much, and then only as a CPU, not as a workstation. The problem is that there's no tape drive attached to the VAXstation -- only the disk drive and the ethernet connection. My question is, would it be possible to bring up Ultrix on the VAXstation given this braindead configuration? (Currently, the VAXstation has to boot even VMS over the ethernet.) If it is, could we somehow use the tape drives on the VMS VAXen for some form of backup? Please email your responses, as this question is rather unlikely to be of wide interest. -- Stephen McConnel PHONE: 214-709-2400 (x2328) Summer Institute of Linguistics 214-709-2418 (after 17:00 and weekends) 7500 W.
