[comp.unix.ultrix] Ultrix 3.0 patch tape summary

grr@cbmvax.UUCP (George Robbins) (08/01/89)

Life becomes more interesting. It seems that there are at least two
prepared patch tapes for Ultrix 3.0. The MA now Alabama support group
has on that addresses basic system problems, while the network support
folk out Colorado have one that addresses LAT and DECnet problems.
Perhaps the normal Ultrix support folk can supply both, I recevied them
in response to different problems.

***** This is 3.0 stuff ******

Summary:

Ultrix Patch tape (from around May, may not be current):

Bindsetup Bug - subnets, svcorder, namedb
Ultrixboot on VAX 6XXX - hand patch required
TK70s on VAX 6XXX - TK's not usable after boot
serial drivers - set of modem control patches
panic: smccdec:rssize - shared memory problems
lockd - lockd crashs
massbus magtape on 86XX - config/boot problems
nfsd - inappropriate umask handling
nfs messages - Can't get mbuf or get_myadr:socket:no buffer space
dump/restore - problems with TU81/TU81+
nfs panic - Out of mbufs

Network Patch tape (current):

DECnet-Internet gateway - <CR><LF> as terminator during directory listings
DECnet-Internet gateway - map dap "DIR" commands into ftp "LIST" commands
DECnet-Internet gateway - allow the output file spec to contain any character
DECnet/ncp - maximum number of logical links "invalid format, node"
DECnet-DOS V2.1 - sethost causes Ultrix session hang
ncp - "trigger" of a remote mode more than once from same ncp would fail
cterm - Numerous fixes involving VMS layered applications, etc...

LAT - Allow multiple opens on the same reverse lat tty
LAT - allow the stty commands "pass8", "istrip", "tandem" to work on LAT tty's
LAT/lpd - truncated printouts
LAT/lpd - printers fail if more than one ethernet I/F
LAT - limitations on no of ttys per each multiple LAT service.

Well, hopefully that's it for good olde 3.0 - I'm still waiting on DEC
for the 3.1 LAT patches...
