If so, how do I read it? The systems on which I need to do this are: any VAX running Ultrix any VAX running 4.3 BSD any DECS MIPS machine In the Ultrix documentation I've found some mention of reading ROMs, but no map of the ROM's contents. I need this in order to lock a piece of software (a license server) to a particular host. On Suns, gethostid(2) does the trick; but since 4.3 BSD and Ultrix have a sethostid(2) system call, I don't think gethostid is very secure there!
