[comp.unix.ultrix] Need help with dump to TK70 on 3500

jeff@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Jeffrey M White) (10/25/89)

I'm having some problems trying to use dump on a MicroVax 3500 running Ultrix 3.1
I'd like to dump to the TK70 cartridge. I'm not sure exactly what options to
use (I'm not running under the operator shell), so the B (number of 1k blocks)
set for 296000 (296 Mbytes) seemed the best to use. That seemed to work, as
dump prompted for the second cartidge after dumping about 92% of a 270 Mbytes
filesystem. However, after inserting the next cartridge and typing yes to continue,
dump just sits there actively running (at between 70% to 90% cpu usage). If I
hit a CTRL-C to interrupt the dump, it comes back with the "Do you wish to abort"
message (which I enter no to), so it doesn't appear as if dump is totally hung up.
Anyone have an idea of why dump isn't working properly? Also, what are the
best options to use for a TK70 cartridge. Any help would be appreciated.
