[comp.unix.ultrix] More info on shared memory bug in 3.1

mjb@acd4.UUCP ( Mike Bryan ) (10/27/89)

Earlier in the week I posted info about a problem with processes
accessing shared memory becoming blocked at a priority of -24. It
seems DEC has a patch tape available for this problem (and a few
others), but it does not work on the 5400. You cannot build a kernel,
due to several compile time errors with multiply defined symbols and
such. According to software support, it only works for DECstations,
not DECsystems. (Gee, lets hear it for consistency!) The support
folk were going to talk to the engineering folk, and see what could be
done about getting a patch tape which works on the 5400.

That's about all I know at this time. If you see problems similar to
the ones I'm having, please ask DEC for the patch tape. (If they get
enough requests, they might even get one out for the 5400 soon. :-)
