HELP!!! We have an Exabyte 8mm tape drive that we want to run off of a Dec Station 3100. Its hooked up and reads and writes fine, the only problem is that when I write a file, read it back and diff them---THEY ARE DIFFERENT. This test was done on text files so I can actually see the dropped bytes. It happens every time although the errors are only a small percentage of the data. Someone has told me that some switches need to change on the drive. Can anyone help me on this ? Secondly, I live in Boulder,Co , home of the Exabyte. Several times a week, the newspapers report that this company is really doing tremendously. I work at the Enginerring building at University of Colorado and there are several Exabyte drives here. NO ONE is even remotly happy with these drives. We had to get 4 different drives until we found one that worked(sometimes). What is the concensus on these drives. We think they are peices of ****. Thanks, Dan Baldwin baldwin@boulder.Colorado.EDU

Which operating system revision are you using? The exabyte
support in Ultrix 3.1 is said to be much fixed from Ultrix 3.0.
