Help! We have installed an RX23 (floppy-drive) on a DS3100, but are experiencing some problems. root can do whatever he wants with it (format, newfs, mount, create files), but he is the only privileged one. /dev/*rz4* are all writeable and readable for the world. 1. A user cannot mount the disk formated by root [ ufs_mount: /dev/rz4c on /my_home/mnt: Permission denied ] (The root-directory on the diskett is owned by the user) 2. A user cannot format the diskette: A "rzdisk -f /dev/rrz4c" gives (after a dialogue) > *** ERROR OCCURRED DURING COMMAND (Mode Select) *** > /dev/rrz4c: Permission denied (rzdisk -f /dev/rrz4c is legal with the version of rzdisk supplied with the RX23 ) Have anyone out there seen similar behaviour, and if yes: Is there a fix? [ dec didn't know ]. gutorm hogasen Email: gutorm@ikaros.uio.no Dept. of Mathematics University of Oslo NORWAY
