[comp.unix.ultrix] Vax Common lisp

jcn@aplcen.apl.jhu.edu (John C. Noble) (03/06/90)

We are running Ultrix VAX Lisp V2.2 on Ultrix-32 V3.1 (Rev 9). One of the
instructors wants to use the built-in editor feature (ed "file") from
this version of lisp. The equivalent VMS version has such a feature, but
it is not present in the Ultrix version (and is documented as such). We
have tried to convince this professor of the benefits of job control and
the features present in GNU emacs that make the transition from editing lisp
programs to testing them easy, but to no avail. He still wants the VMS
style built in editor feature. Does anyone know how this feature can be
built into VAX Lisp? Please e-mail your response, and thanks if you can
help.
